Update of Thursday 13 October 2011

posted 12 Oct 2011, 22:58 by Monash Running   [ updated 12 Oct 2011, 23:01 ]

Tuesday was yet another great night for running, and despite absences due to Semester break, exam preparation, recovery from Marathon & Half marathon efforts on the weekend, illness, & a range of social commitments, we saw a terrific turnout of 52 of you.

I’m particularly pleased to see so many of you now letting me know if you can’t make it on a particular Tuesday evening – that really does demonstrate a strong commitment to the Squad. Keep this up please.

The favorite of many – our hill circuit around the lake – was our venue this week. A 15 minute session of hill efforts & steady running was handled particularly well by all of you – well done. And good to see a more reasonable ‘warm up’, close to the 15 minutes I prefer – rather that packing the 15 minute warm up into 6 or 7 minutes.

We welcomed yet another 3 ‘new recruits’ this week  -  Sarah Clark, Tamara Cherington & Thanesh Sapamthan  - we trust each of you enjoyed the experience – and will be back.

Would any of you who have joined us in recent weeks & have not returned since - please send me advice of your intentions as soon as possible. Some in this category will be soon removed from our mailing list if no word is received.

I still have a limited supply of running diaries for any of you who might like to keep tabs on your training/progress. Just send me a note if you’d like one. And I am happy to chat about training programs as well as review diary entries.

We’ll be in action again as usual next Tuesday evening 18th October  2011

·         We’re still located at the Baseball field, & using the pavilion over there. Access by car is quite good & parking is very handy - enter from Ring Road East & go around to the Baseball field along the road  around the back (Wellington Rd end) of Oval 1.

·         And we are in action every Tuesday evening without fail throughout 2011

Hill Session at Jells Park - Saturday Morning next 15th October

Our  Hill session WILL go ahead again next Saturday morning (15th October) - at Jells Park – and I’ll be there.

We’ll meet at the usual  spot, ready to run, at 8.30am SHARP out the front of the cafe – ‘Madeline’s’. Enter Jells Park from the entrance in Waverley Rd extension – opposite the Glen Waverley Golf Course. Please try to be on time

Social  News

For your diaries – Our 2011 Christmas celebration will be held after training at the Clayton Campus on Tuesday 20th December. Venue will be the outside BBQ area at the back of the Sports building – overlooking the sports fields. There will be a small charge to cover the catering.

I really hope for a huge attendance at this get together, which will be a truly memorable event.

More details later.
