Hi All

 

This week – Tuesday 22nd May – a nice night for running !

 

With Winter looming we were lucky yet again, with the weather being extremely kind to us this week.

Just 1 new squad member on Tuesday, Gowda Lingappa, and a few special visitors – Scott, Tess & her friend, Chris’s daughter, & my Glenhuntly club friend Han. A of 54 of us were in attendance this week, let’s see if we can sustain that as Winter closes in.

During the main session – 4 x 60 sec efforts followed by 8 x 30 sec efforts – I managed a temporary lapse of concentration & forgot to blow the whistle after one of the 30 sec efforts, causing a little confusion. Apologies for that – but we did overcome that small lapse on my part.

Will you all please endeavour to get in a few other runs during the week and/or on weekends – it really does help – and not much time is needed. Even a short run is better than none.

Don’t hesitate to ask me if you would like any help at all with a regular training program and/or ideas on opportunities to get into a few races to test your progress.

·        Thanks again to all who sent me apologies for their absence on Tuesday night, this is a great habit to get into & demonstrates your commitment to our squad  – hope to see you back soon, if not next week.

·        Thanks to Dan for bringing along the giveaway bananas this week.

In 2012, as usual, we’re located at the Baseball field, & using the pavilion over there. Access by car is quite good & parking is very handy - enter from Ring Road East & go around to the Baseball field along the road around the back (Wellington Rd end) of Oval 1. You can park at the rear of the pavilion if space – or on the dirt road above if you like.

 

A Reminder

Please keep off the main (fenced) oval when warming up /warming down – we don’t want to get on the wrong side of the friendly groundsman.

 

Saturday Morning Hill Session at Jells Park

 

Sorry, but the  Saturday morning Hill session WILL NOT go ahead next Saturday morning (26th May) as we have a Road event at Flemington that day..

But we’ll definitely be back in action on Saturday week – 2nd June. On the 2nd well meet at the usual  spot ready to run, at 8.30am SHARP -  out the front of the cafe at Jells Park – ‘Madelines. Enter Jells Park from the entrance in Waverley Rd extension opposite the Glen Waverley Golf Course.

Great to hear we had such a big attendance in my absence last Saturday

·        The Great Ocean Marathon weekend was on 19th / 20th May  

 

Quite a number of our squad members participated in one of the Events – 6k & 14k Road Races on Saturday 19th as well as the events on Sunday 20th – Half Marathon & Marathon.

Those I am aware of included; Matt Haeussler, Stacey Bulger, Celine Tasset, Katharina Strobel, Ramona Baumgartner, Nine Mok, Isie Drewett, & Alice Enter

I’ll detail their results when I get hold of them.

 

·        Lost/Found after you all left on Tuesday evening this week

 

Two track suit tops; 1 x 2XU size S (Blue), 1 x size M – blue & white (2 white stripes on arms, 2 blue stripes across front).

Please let me know if one is yours – I’ll bring them along next Tuesday
