Tuesday Evening Running Squad at Monash Clayton

Update - Wednesday 14 September  2011

Hi All

A special night last night – we were joined by Olympic Silver Medalist (5000m in Sydney 2000) – Sonia O’Sullivan. Sonia greatly enjoyed meeting & running with all of you – and I hope she’ll be back as often as possible. Thanks to all of you for making her feel so welcome.

We enjoyed a great workout on the grass – 16 minutes of 200s with jog/float recovery – congrats to all of you for handling this session so well.

The 15 minute warm up – and warm down was of course an integral part of the session

Thanks to all who made the effort to send their apology – I do appreciate the commitment demonstrated when you take that small trouble.  Attendance last night was 60, a fabulous turnout, but I must say conditions were really ideal for running.

It was great to have Jerome Rowcroft & the traveler- Len Johnson, rejoin us after a break.

We welcomed yet another 7 ‘new recruits’ this week ; Claire Walpole, Sonia O’Sullivan, Matilda Frid, Diarmuid Kelly, Martin Firus, Su Chen, & Aupi As-Saber . We trust you found the group very friendly and the run up to your expectations. We are really a league of nations – some very recent ‘newies', come from places like Lithuania, Sweden, Malaysia, Japan, France & Ireland.

Another message to  those of you who have joined us for the first time in recent weeks & have not returned since - please send me advice of your intentions as soon as possible. You do run the risk of being removed from our expanding roll.

I still have a limited supply of running diaries for any of you who might like to keep tabs on your training/progress. Just send me a note if you’d like one.

Lost & Found

Left behind by someone last night – a very nice stainless steel drink bottle – no branding.

I’ll bring it along next Tuesday evening.

We’ll be in action again as usual next Tuesday evening 20th September  2011

·         We’re still located at the Baseball field, & using the pavilion over there. Access by car is quite good & parking is very handy - enter from Ring Road East & go around to the Baseball field along the road  around the back (Wellington Rd end) of Oval 1.

·         And we are in action every Tuesday evening without fail throughout 2011

Tan Relays

About 25 of our squad members are participating in these relays next Saturday morning- in addition to the large number of others from the squad who will be running in athletic club teams.

Good luck to all of you

Hill Session at Jells Park - Saturday Morning next

Sorry, but our  Hill session from Jells Park won’t be  going ahead next  Saturday morning (17th September) as most  of us will be involved in the Tan Relays that morning.

So we will back in action on Saturday 24th September & as usual we’ll meet at  8.30am SHARP, out the front of the cafe – ‘Madeline’s’. Enter Jells Park from the entrance in Waverley Rd extension – opposite the Glen Waverley Golf Course.

Hope for a big turnout on 24th. Contact me if any questions/problems.

We had a great session on the hills last Saturday  – cold weather but fine for running – well done to all who attended.

Support our Squad member Jules Kajter’s fundraising for Amnesty International in the 2011 Melbourne Marathon

G'day TV's running squad members,

I started running with the squad in late 2010, shortly after deciding to run my first marathon. All the training culminates with the big event on Sunday 9th October - the Melbourne Marathon. In the process of training for the 42km run, I have been raising money for the human rights organisation Amnesty International.

Everything you need to know is on my fundraising page: http://www.gofundraise.com.au/juleskajtar

Thanks for the support!
Jules

Cheers
