TV's Update - Wed 27 June 2012

This week – Tuesday 26th June

 

Slightly lower numbers this week  for a range of reasons, but in the circumstances 41 was excellent.  Once again a nice night for running – so we did our session on the grass again – 15 minutes of ‘straights’, much to Darren’s satisfaction.

It was great to welcome back Laurence E – fresh after his exploits in the Comrades Marathon in South Africa in early June. Laus has promised us an item about his experiences in this iconic event – for our website.

And one new member this week – Ben Frantz – welcome Ben – we hope you’ll stick with us.

My thanks to my Physio mate Peter Bruce for being so kind to attend this week & chat to those of you with injury issues – or even minor twinges. Peter will be back again in the not too distant future.

Most of you continue to show gradual improvement – and this will continue – just try to run as often & regularly as possible outside our Tuesday evening sessions.

Don’t hesitate to ask me if you would like any help at all with a regular training program and/or ideas on opportunities to get into a few races to test your progress.

·        We had a huge number of apologies this week – 30+ - mainly from those of you who are in warmer /distant climates during the Uni break. My sincere thanks to all of you who took the small trouble to let me know of your movements.

·        I know that many of you will be away for the next few weeks – but some advice of the period of your absence would be appreciated please, if you haven’t told me already.

In 2012, as usual, we’re located at the Baseball field, & using the pavilion over there. Access by car is quite good & parking is very handy - enter from Ring Road East & go around to the Baseball field along the road around the back (Wellington Rd end) of Oval 1. You can park at the rear of the pavilion if space – or on the dirt road above if you like.

 

A Reminder

Please keep off the main (fenced) oval when warming up /warming down – we don’t want to get on the wrong side of the friendly groundsman.

 

Saturday Morning Hill Session at Jells Park

 

Our  Hill session WILL go ahead again next Saturday morning (30th June) - at Jells Park, and I’ll be there. We’ll meet at the usual  spot, ready to run, at 8.30am SHARP (please try to be on time) -  out the front of the cafe – ‘Madeline’s’. Enter Jells Park from the entrance in Waverley Rd extension – opposite the Glen Waverley Golf Course.
