TVs Update - Thursday 8th March 2012 - Record attendance

posted 8 Mar 2012, 03:38 by Monash Running

This week – Tuesday 6th March

Well – we thought last week was big !! New record (WR ?) this week – 82 – fantastic attendance – and a perfect night for running. Congratulations to all of you who were part of this great night.

We welcomed 16 potential new running squad members on Tuesday evening – we do hope you’ll all see fit to return – but if not please let me know so I can remove you from our attendance  and mailing lists.

The session was the most popular 15 minutes of 200m (approx) efforts with a shortish recovery and everyone survived.

As I’ve mentioned on many occasions – the more runs you do during the week the quicker your fitness will improve – and it doesn’t take long at all for any improvement to become noticeable.

We welcomed back quite a few of you after breaks of various periods – Deb, Oliver, Eleanor, Rebecca, Lewis & Katherine M (after a long absence) My friend/guest, a top coach from Queensland - John Purcell, was most impressed with you all.

Our 16 new members were; Hailey See, Abbey Morris, Alex Barber, Mayuke Kubozono, Holly McManus, Prasad Palanisamy, Bryan Yip, Donovan Du Yong, Jonathan Ting, Elizabeth Tan, Ally Clarke, Kathy Bell, Ali Orchard, Felicity Copp, Marienne Haines & Rashaam Chowdhury.

We trust you will all be returning – but if you won’t be back – please let me know by return email

In recent weeks we’ve welcomed lots of new squad members – and pleasingly most have returned. If you’re one who hasn’t been back I’d appreciate your advice please of if /when we can expect to see you again.

Thanks again to all who sent me apologies for their absence last night – hope to see you back soon, if not next week – but be early if you want a chair !

·        If you haven’t made it of a Tuesday evening for quite some time, please take the initiative & sent me an update on your plans for 2012 as far as our squad is concerned.

We will be in action on Tuesday next 13th March 2012

In 2012, as usual, we’re located at the Baseball field, & using the pavilion over there. Access by car is quite good & parking is very handy - enter from Ring Road East & go around to the Baseball field along the road  around the back (Wellington Rd end) of Oval 1. You can park at the rear of the pavilion if space – or on the dirt road above if you like.

A Reminder

Please keep off the main (fenced) oval when warming up /warming down – we don’t want to get on the wrong side of the friendly groundsman.

Saturday Morning Hill Session at Jells Park

Our  Hill session WILL go ahead again next Saturday morning (10th March) - at Jells Park, and I’ll be there of course. We’ll meet at the usual  spot, ready to run, at 8.30am SHARP (please try to be on time) -  out the front of the cafe – ‘Madeline’s’. Enter Jells Park from the entrance in Waverley Rd extension – opposite the Glen Waverley Golf Course.

The 2012 Emer Casey Fun Run will be conducted at the Monash Clayton Campus on Sunday morning 27th May (5k & 10k) runs. All proceeds go to a most deserving charity & this is one event that I’m particularly keen for all members of our squad to support. More details later.

I have a limited supply of running diaries for any of you who might like to keep tabs on your training/progress. Just send me a note if you’d like one. And I am happy to chat about training programs as well as review diary entries.
