TV's Update - 29 Feb 2012

posted 2 Mar 2012, 21:33 by Monash Running

This week – Tuesday 28th February

Wow !! What a night we had last night.

Attendance was huge – 65 – and this included a massive 10 new squad members !

And we headed over to the Lake for the very popular Hills session – congrats to each & every one of you on handling it so well – and sensibly

We welcomed back quite a few of you after breaks of various periods – Claire Pollock, Claire O’Reilly, Emma Kelly, Luisa Moore, Tom Castle, Stacey Bulger, Sabrina Hoare, Christina Morianos, Jacinta Barlow & Johnny Cho – my apologies to any I’ve missed.

Our new members were; Norman Khov, David Sibenaler, Anne Merks, Wowter Lankhorst, Isaac Fong, Eduardo Flores, Aayan Raza, Jess Carter, Rana Nag, & Ellen Varekamp.

We trust you will all be returning – but if you won’t be back – please let me know by return email

In recent weeks we’ve welcomed lots of new squad members – and pleasingly most have returned. If you’re one who hasn’t been back I’d appreciate your advice please of if /when we can expect to see you again.

Thanks again to all who sent me apologies for their absence last night – a new attendance record may be on the cards soon the way we are heading

·        If you haven’t made it of a Tuesday evening for quite some time, please take the initiative & sent me an update on your plans for 2012 as far as our squad is concerned.

We will be in action on Tuesday next 6th March 2012

In 2012, as usual, we’re located at the Baseball field, & using the pavilion over there. Access by car is quite good & parking is very handy - enter from Ring Road East & go around to the Baseball field along the road  around the back (Wellington Rd end) of Oval 1. You can park at the rear of the pavilion if space – or on the dirt road above if you like.

A Reminder

Please keep off the main (fenced) oval when warming up /warming down – we don’t want to get on the wrong side of the friendly groundsman.

Saturday Morning Hill Session at Jells Park

Our  Hill session WILL go ahead again next Saturday morning (3rd March) - at Jells Park, and I’ll be there of course. We’ll meet at the usual  spot, ready to run, at 8.30am SHARP (please try to be on time) -  out the front of the cafe – ‘Madeline’s’. Enter Jells Park from the entrance in Waverley Rd extension – opposite the Glen Waverley Golf Course.

Great to welcome Hannah to the Sat morning squad this week – and numbers were very good, especially considering the heat and other clashing events. It’s pleasing to see such good improvement from all who are participating in this session.

More Trivia – on names

Bad news for those in the squad named  Jade, your claim to fame was short lived -– you are now outnumbered 4 to 3  by those named Chris. And in fact we have 3 named James as well !

Results

Congrats to Celine for scoring yet another Fun Run win - this one an 8k at Point Cook last Sunday.

Monash Sport  -Discovery Day – Sunday Feb 26.

Thanks to Daniel & Stacey from our squad for assisting at the running table at this event – there was lots of interest in our squad – with a few turning up last night after first hearing of us on Sunday.

For your Diaries

The 2012 Emer Casey Fun Run will be conducted at the Monash Clayton Campus on Sunday morning 27th May (5k & 10k) runs. All proceeds go to a most deserving charity & this is one event that I’m particularly keen for all members of our squad to support. More details later.

I have a limited supply of running diaries for any of you who might like to keep tabs on your training/progress. Just send me a note if you’d like one. And I am happy to chat about training programs as well as review diary entries.

I’m happy to supply new diaries for 2012 if needed
