Tuesday Evening Running Squad at Monash Clayton

Update - Wednesday 7 September  2011

Hi All

What was shaping during the day (yesterday) as a really cold night was once again great for running – so we returned to our old favorite – the hill circuit around the lake, for 15 minutes of hills. Of course the usual warm up & warm down (15 minutes each) was an important ingredient of the whole session.

Again I received  lots of apologies (thanks to all who make the effort to send their apology)  - however we still had 64 of us in action (I ran to/from the hill circuit so I can be counted). Everyone survived once again – so well done !

It was pleasing to have Oliver Dunbabin rejoin us after a break.

We welcomed another 3 ‘new recruits’ this week ; Claire Pollock, Katherine Monotti, & Lisa Nguyen . We trust you found the group very friendly and the run up to your expectations

Another message to  those of you who have joined us for the first time in recent weeks & have not returned since - please send me advice of your intentions as soon as possible.

I still have a limited supply of running diaries for any of you who might like to keep tabs on your training/progress. Just send me a note if you’d like one.

We’ll be in action again as usual next Tuesday evening 13th September  2011

·         We’re still located at the Baseball field, & using the pavilion over there. Access by car is quite good & parking is very handy - enter from Ring Road East & go around to the Baseball field along the road  around the back (Wellington Rd end) of Oval 1.

·         And we are in action every Tuesday evening without fail throughout 2011

Tan Relays

Thanks for the great response to our opportunity to run a ‘leg’ in the upcoming ‘Tan’ Relays (Saturday 17 September).

We will have 3 Men’s & 3 Women’s teams from our squad – I’ll send final details to those involved next week.

Recent results

Congrats to all of you who ran in the Burnley Half Marathon last Sunday – with great results – & lots of ‘PBs’

I hope to have details up on our website ( ) in the next day or so

Support our Squad member Matt Haeussler in the 2011 Monash University 24 Hour Mega Swim

Hi All Monash Running Squad members

I have entered the 2011 Monash University 24 Hour Mega Swim (Saturday 24 September – Sunday 25 September) and I have committed to fundraise $500.00 in support of those affected by Multiple Sclerosis.

Did you know?

- The average diagnosis of MS is 30 years old.

- 3 times more women than men are affected by MS.

- An estimated 20,000 people in Australia have MS.

Please take a moment to view my online fundraising page and help me reach my fundraising goal. It is easy and will take no time at all, just donate online via your credit card by clicking on the link below:

All information is secure and all donations will be sent electronically to Multiple Sclerosis Limited. A tax deductible receipt will be sent to your inbox once the donation is verified.

Multiple Sclerosis is a disease of the central nervous system affecting more young adult Australians than any other neurological condition. Your donation will go towards MS Australia’s "Go for Gold" scholarship program.

Your support is greatly appreciated.
