Tuesday Evening Running Squad/’Run Monash’ at Monash Clayton Update

Hi All

** As usual we will be in action on Tuesday evening next week - 2nd April

However as a ‘one off’ we’ll be starting early – 4.45pm – as Monash Sport need all activities to be finished by 6pm on that evening

This week – Tuesday 26th March 2013

The Nike presence was an added attraction – but it was a great evening for running – so you turned out in huge numbers – again !

We welcomed 8 new Run Monash members this week - Yee Ken Saw, Carole Tactacan, Peter Williamson, Lauren Innes, Mavra Grundal, Hoda Javidi, Jess Crawshaw, and Mizna Shahbaz. We trust you all greatly enjoyed the experience & will be back on a regular basis.

Jeremy Chin was back after a long absence & Tom Castle turned up after recently advising me that his new job will mean he can’t make it. Great to see you both !

This week we returned to the grass oval for a session of 15 Min of ‘straights’ – which everyone survived most comfortably.

Succesful Nike night

Thanks to our good friend Prue Davison – from NIKE – for joining us on Tuesday evening, 26th March.

Prue brought along a range of Nike's trial running shoes for our runners to try out on the night, and this initiative was extremely popular.

All who attended were thrilled with the Nike ‘Run Melbourne’ T-shirt they received!

Our second Time Trial – 2km – Tuesday 9th April

All of you who participated in the Time Trial on January 29th will I know be keen to check your improvement (?) after some concentrated training. So be ready on Tuesday 9th April for T/T number 2.

We will do a further trial in ? late June / early July so those of you who weren’t around on Jan 29 can run on April 9th then again when we schedule the 3rd T/T.

Saturday Morning Hill Session at Jells Park – 30th March - All welcome !

Our usual weekly Hill session will be on Saturday next, 30th March 2013 - at Jells Park, and I’ll be there, despite it being Easter Saturday. I did however distribute Easter Eggs this week in case some don’t make it next Saturday.

We’ll meet at the usual spot, ready to run, at 8.30am SHARP (please try to be on time) - out the front of the cafe – ‘Madeline’s’. Enter Jells Park from the entrance in Waverley Rd extension – opposite the Glen Waverley Golf Course.

Saturday’s session was great, big numbers again & a perfect day - & not dusty – who could wish for more ? And we welcomed Holly Hughes a ‘first timer’ with us.

Stacey’s lucky charm held out again – her team won the Softball Grand Final on Saturday afternoon after she did the full Hill workout in the morning.. Nice run from Steve B – 3rd in the 5k Run 4 Kids on Sunday morning – and congrats to all who ran PB’s at the Milers Club meet last week – Amelia, Cass, Stacey, Simon, Sam, Lyndon..

Next Saturday should be big again – see you on all then .

Running Group Waiver Form – A message from Monash Sport

All participants of the Running Group are required by the University to complete a waiver form. This form has a number of purposes. It firstly acts as a waiver to advise participants of the potential risks involved in the activity. It will also provide Monash Sport with valuable statistics in regards to who (student/staff/alumni/community) is participating in this activity. The University is requesting information on who is participating in all of Monash Sport's programs so this will assist Monash Sport in their reporting back to the University about student, staff and alumni usage. The form also provides an emergency contact point should anything happen. Hopefully we never need to use this information though!

If you haven't completed a form already, please click on the link below to download a form, complete it and bring it to the next session and give it to me /TV.

I will have spare blank forms with me of a Tuesday evening. Thanks to the great many of you who have completed & returned forms to me already.
