This week – Tuesday 19th November 2013

posted 24 Nov 2013, 13:51 by Monash Running
Hi All

After last week’s near drowning it was, pleasingly, a really nice night for running this week. We ran on the grass – with lots trying barefoot – doing our popular ‘Straights’ session – 15 minutes of strong straights with jog/float recoveries on the bends.

We welcomed 4 more new members this week – Sandra Krofic, Emily Cavanagh, Leisa McGuiness, & Julia Wilmanns, & we hope you all enjoyed the experience sufficiently to return next Tuesday. We were pleased to welcome Ly Ho (our fine weather runner) back after a short break

Congratulations to;

· Amelia Aslanides on her huge run of 16 min 45.92 sec to finish a fabulous 2nd in the Victorian 5k track Championship at the Lakeside track last Thursday (14th Nov). Fine runs that night also from Stacey Bulger (18.21 - PB), Simon Bowly (16.30), Travis Bail (16.03.4 PB), & Alice Enter (20.20 PB)

· Ebony Gilbert on her gutsy effort in the Half Ironman event at Shepparton last Sunday

· Wouter Masselink (70.47), Ivan Gladwyn–Ng (72.08), Ashley Siegel (78.04), Matilda Haas (81.28), Lowell Wan (74.54) & Rachel Paule (72.00) in the 14k City2Sea race in Melbourne also last Sunday. If anyone else from Run Monash participated in the C2S event please send me details – the above are the only ones I’m aware of.

· Mel Gray, Bradley Crockett, & Tarli Bird (1st Female) in the 7k Fun Run at Shepparton last Saturday. Tarli is presently up in Japan/Chiba as a member of the Australian Team contesting an International Road (Ekiden) Relay. Tarli was one of our early running squad members.

Thanks to everyone for your ongoing commitment to Run Monash.

· In recent times we have welcomed lots of new potential squad members to Run Monash. If you are one of these – but have not returned please let me know by return email if you will be back. I really can’t keep people on the mailing list who don’t intend to participate with us on a regular basis.

Thanks again to those who can’t attend who send me an ‘apology’ – as I’ve said this demonstrates more than just a casual involvement in our ‘Run Monash’ squad.

Would you all please make a special effort to mark off/highlight your name on my attendance list each week as that’s the only way I have of keeping track of attendance numbers.

Saturday Morning Hill Session at Jells Park

Our next Hill session will be on Saturday next, 23rd November 2013, at Jells Park.

Of course we’ll meet at the usual spot next Saturday, ready to run, at 8.30am SHARP (please be on time) - out the front of the cafe – ‘Madeline’s’.

Enter Jells Park from the entrance in Waverley Rd extension – opposite the Glen Waverley Golf Course.

Hope to see a big turnout next week.

As usual we will be in action on Tuesday evening next week, 26th November – ready to run - at 6pm SHARP

In 2013, as usual, we’re located at the Baseball field, & using the pavilion over there. Access by car is quite good & for handy parking - enter from Ring Road East & find a spot along the road around the back (Wellington Rd end) of Oval 1.

Only a short walk from there.

But you can no longer park at the rear of the pavilion – or on the gravel road above. Parking in other nearby areas is free after 5pm.
