Hi All

As usual we will be in action on Tuesday evening next week, 25th June – ready to run at 6pm SHARP

In 2013, as usual, we’re located at the Baseball field, & using the pavilion over there. Access by car is quite good & parking is very handy - enter from Ring Road East & go around to the Baseball field along the road around the back (Wellington Rd end) of Oval 1. You can park at the rear of the pavilion if space – or on the dirt road above if you like

This week – Tuesday 18th June 2013

It’s pretty incredible the way we have great nights – most of the time – even in the depths of Winter – and Tuesday this week was no exception. In fact Tony & Justin both did our session on the grass barefoot !

Great numbers this week with 60 of you ‘toeing the line’. And this was an excellent turn out – being in the middle of exams – and with lots travelling overseas & interstate during the break as well. On the equivalent night last year/ in 2012 we had an attendance of less than 50.

Despite a slightly damp/slippery surface we managed a great session – 8 x 60sec efforts & 4 x 30 sec efforts – with of course the usual warm up/warm down.

We had two more join us this week – Kim Allan & Ruth Vreys - great to have you both with us.

Would you all please make a special effort to mark off/highlight your name on my attendance list each week as that’s the only way I have of keeping track of attendance numbers.

Thanks to those of you who do me the courtesy of advising if you can’t make it – this demonstrates more than just a casual commitment to Run Monash.

Time Trial Number 3 – is still scheduled for next week - Tuesday 25th June, so be ready!

· Congrats to Jon (89 min) & Graham (93 min) on their great runs in the recent Traralgon Half Marathon & Rick on his nice marathon in Perth (3.27)


Saturday Morning Hill Session at Jells Park

Our usual weekly Hill session will be on Saturday next, 22nd June 2013, at Jells Park. Even though, once again, I can’t make it (I’ll be at Bundoora Park for some Cross Country racing events) – the session will be in the most capable hands this week of Michael & James again.

What an incredible turnout we had last Saturday – a new record of 32.

Meet on Saturday at the usual spot, ready to run, at 8.30am SHARP (please try to be on time) - out the front of the cafe – ‘Madeline’s’. Enter Jells Park from the entrance in Waverley Rd extension – opposite the Glen Waverley Golf Course.

I expect to be back on board for this session on Saturday week - June 29th.


Run Heart for Health

This week we welcomed Katie Stoll, from the Heart Foundation, to our session to promote the opportunity for any of you participating in ‘Run Melbourne’ event on 27th July to choose to support the Heart Foundation when you run.

Simply register at the Run Melbourne website & choose to support the Heart Foundation.

Our Name!

Officially we are the ‘Monash University Running Group’ – but in normal conversation referred to as ‘Run Monash’.


Running Group Waiver Form – A message from Monash Sport.

All participants of the Running Group are required by the University to complete a waiver form. This form has a number of purposes. It firstly acts as a waiver to advise participants of the potential risks involved in the activity. It will also provide Monash Sport with valuable statistics in regards to who (student/staff/alumni/community) is participating in this activity. The University is requesting information on who is participating in all of Monash Sport's programs so this will assist Monash Sport in their reporting back to the University about student, staff and alumni usage. The form also provides an emergency contact point should anything happen. Hopefully we never need to use this information though!

Mega Swim - 10am Sat 6 to 10am Sun 7 July, 2013

The 24 Hour Mega Swim is a fun team event comprising of 15 swimmers per team. It caters for all levels and money raised goes to a fantastic cause. 2012 saw us raise over $50,000, so get your team mates together and join in for 2013!

Monash Games - 16 to 19 July, 2013

Faculty vs Faculty, Department vs Department, Campus vs Campus, Students vs Staff.

Another great opportunity to get your friends together for some fun during Semester break.

Held at the Clayton campus, Monash Games are an opportunity for staff and students across all Victorian campuses of the university to play modified sports in a fun and friendly environment over three days.
