This week – Tuesday 17th September 2013

posted 20 Sep 2013, 02:59 by Monash Running
Hi All

On a pretty nice evening we saw another big turnout – with 70 ‘toeing the line’ - & the grass oval was in surprisingly good condition.

To cater for a few who missed last week’s most popular time trial we provided an opportunity for another 16 to make their attempts this week. This took the total over the 2 weeks to 88 !

Their results will be on our Facebook – and Website - as soon as possible.

The rest of the squad, organised by Len (while I organised the Time Trial), undertook our tough fartlek session of 8 x 60 sec efforts (60 sec recovery) followed by 4 x 30 sec efforts (30 sec recovery)

Of course everyone did the Warm up & Warm down of 15 min each, and I was pleased to see a good number finish the session with a few relaxed ‘run throughs’ over around 80 Meters (jog back recovery) on the grass.

We had just one new member join us this week – Shelley Evans. We welcome Shelley to our great squad and hope she enjoyed the experience.

Thanks again to those who can’t attend who send me an ‘apology’ – as I’ve said this demonstrates more than just a casual involvement in our ‘Run Monash’ squad.

Would you all please make a special effort to mark off/highlight your name on my attendance list each week as that’s the only way I have of keeping track of attendance numbers.

Congratulations to those of you who participated in the ‘Tough Mudder’ event last weekend – and survived !

Time Trials – 2kms

* At this stage we’re planning the next Time Trial for Tuesday evening November 26th – so a little under 10 weeks for all of you to get in a good preparation & chalk up a big improvement on your current best time for this most popular run.

AV Tan Relays (3.8k circuit) are on this coming weekend

Our best wishes to the large number of Run Monash members who will be participating

As usual we will be in action on Tuesday evening next week, 24th September – ready to - run at 6pm SHARP

In 2013, as usual, we’re located at the Baseball field, & using the pavilion over there. Access by car is quite good & parking is very handy - enter from Ring Road East & go around to the Baseball field along the road around the back (Wellington Rd end) of Oval 1. You can park at the rear of the pavilion if space – or on the dirt road above if you like

Saturday Morning Hill Session at Jells Park

Sorry – but our Hill session WILL NOT go ahead next Saturday morning (21st September) as many of us, including me, are involved in the ‘Tan Relays’ that same day / morning with my club - Glenhuntly. We also have a few teams running that will be made up of Run Monash Squad members.

But we will be back in action on Saturday week – 28th September - for sure.
