Hey – cold day – and night yesterday – but great for running ! Not so good for me standing around – lucky I was well rugged up.

Despite lots of apologies (thanks to all who make the effort to send their apology) we still had a massive turnout of 68 last night. Everyone survived one of our toughest sessions – ‘Mona Fartlek’

It so happens I caught up with the ‘inventor’ of this session – Mona himself – today for a chat/coffee. He was really pleased to hear that his favorite session is a regular of ours

It was pleasing to have a few more of you rejoin us after breaks of varying periods – Paul Tien, Peter Park, & Jihane Homman. It didn’t take Jihane long to get stuck into me about working her hard either !

We welcomed another 5 ‘new recruits’ this week ; Alex Stewart, Cameron Trybetz, Ellen Sanchez, Claire O’Reilly, & Mani Risal. We trust you found the group very friendly and the run up to your expectations

Those of you  who have joined us for the first time in recent weeks & have not returned since are asked to send me advice of your intentions please.

I still have a limited supply of running diaries for any of you who might like to keep tabs on your training/progress. Just send me a note if you’d like one.

An Opportunity

In past couple of years I have entered a few teams (M & F) from our squad in the annual ‘Tan Relays’ conducted by Athletics Victoria – and if there’s sufficient interest I plan to do the same this year. These relays are run over one lap (3.8k) for each runner of the famous Tan track (Kings Domain) – close to the city.

Those of you who ran last year will be able to measure your improvement by tackling this great run again – on Saturday morning (9am start) 17th September. I have already had a number of you indicate your enthusiasm to participate – & I’ll need final numbers by next Tuesday evening at the latest to give me time to enter teams.

Found on Tuesday evening after our training session

A silver colored drink bottle with white tape around the top – I’ll have it with me next Tuesday.

We’ll be in action again as usual next Tuesday evening, 6th September  2011

·         We’re still located at the Baseball field, & using the pavilion over there. Access by car is quite good & parking is very handy - enter from Ring Road East & go around to the Baseball field along the road  around the back (Wellington Rd end) of Oval 1.

·         And we are in action every Tuesday evening without fail throughout 2011

Hill Session at Jells Park - Saturday Morning next – 3rd September

Our  Hill session WILL go ahead again next Saturday morning (3 September) - at Jells Park – and I’ll be there. Thanks to Chris for looking after things in my absence last Saturday morning.

We’ll meet at the usual  spot at 8.30am SHARP, out the front of the cafe – ‘Madeline’s’. Enter Jells Park from the entrance in Waverley Rd extension – opposite the Glen Waverley Golf Course. Please try to be on time.

I hope to see a huge turn out this coming Saturday – rain or shine.

Don’t hesitate to call/email me if any questions/problems.
