1. Name: Paulina Mikulic

2. Age: 31

3. A brief background: PhD student, Faculty of Science (Biology) 

4. How long have you been a RunMonash member?
Hmm…I really can’t remember! I think I joined in 2012 to prepare for my first 10km race at the Melbourne Marathon Fesitval. So that’s two years now! 
I had been running on my own for years up until I signed up for that race, and had been meaning to join RunMonash for ages. I realised that if I wanted to run a decent time, I would need motivation, new challenges and interval training.

5. Favourite run session?
I like quite a few actually. 
I like how the Hills session at Jells park challenges me. 
I also like the Mona Fartlek session, again because it challenges me. 
I like the 200’s too….I can’t choose, and please don’t force me to! 

6. Favourite place to run?
I like running at Jells Park. I also enjoy a run along the beach track. There are not many hills there though, but there are sounds and smells of the beach. 

7. Favourite song/music to run to? (or sounds of nature)
I usually run with people so I don’t listen to music too often, but when I do on occasion run with earphones, I listen to all sorts of music. 

8. Favourite food?
I like chicken salads, nice gourmet sandwiches and dark chocolate (the mint flavoured Lindt one). 

9. What motivates you to continue running?
I like feeling fit and healthy. When I do not run, I feel groggy and sad. Running makes me feel happy after a long day in the lab. Running with friends also makes me smile! 

10. What is your running goal for 2014?
2014 has been a stressful year for me, with my PhD deadline looming. My aim is to therefore be as consistent with my training as possible. TV has been wonderful in helping me achieve this. With his motivation, I joined Glenhuntly Athletics Club and have been running in races, so I aim to do my best in those challenges. 

11. Any general comments about your involvement in RunMonash.
Running with the support and motivation of Trevor Vincent, who is so passionate about the sport, and your health and fitness, has been a privilege and I would like to thank him for all the time he devotes to the 100+ members of our running club!
